The Glass We Use
Pilkington K Glass
At Glass Guys, our double glazed units are made using Pilkington K Glass. This type of glass has a very thin, invisible coating on one side that helps control how heat passes through the window.
In many homes, a lot of heat is lost through windows because warm air inside naturally moves toward colder glass. The special coating on Pilkington K Glass helps reflect heat back into the room instead of letting it escape outside, while still allowing natural light to pass through.
When used in double glazed units, this helps reduce heat loss through the window and keeps your home warmer and more energy efficient.

Single
Single Glazed Glass
Single glazed glass consists of one pane of glass and is commonly found in older properties, internal windows, sheds, and certain types of doors. It provides a simple and cost-effective glazing solution where high insulation is not required.
This type of glass is typically used in:
• Older residential windows
• Internal doors and partitions
• Sheds and outbuildings
• Certain decorative or secondary window applications
Double glazed
Double Glazed Glass
Double glazed glass is made using two panes of glass sealed together with a gap between them. This space is designed to improve insulation and reduce heat loss through the window.
This type of glass is typically used in:
• Modern residential windows
• Replacement window units
• Patio and external doors
• Conservatories
Double glazed units help improve insulation, energy efficiency, and comfort inside the home, making them the most common choice for modern window installations and upgrades.
Clear Glass
Clear glass is the most common option used in residential windows. It allows maximum natural light into your home while providing a clean and unobstructed view outside.
This type of glass is typically used in:
• Living rooms
• Kitchens
• Bedrooms
• Conservatories
Clear glass is ideal for areas where privacy is not a concern and natural light is desired.
Privacy / Obscure Glass
Privacy glass, also known as obscure glass, is designed to allow light into a room while limiting visibility through the window.
This makes it ideal for areas where privacy is important while still maintaining brightness.
Privacy glass is commonly used in:
• Bathrooms
• Front doors
• Hallway windows
• Ground floor windows
• Side windows facing neighbouring properties
Patterned Privacy Glass Options
We supply a range of patterned privacy glass designs that provide different levels of obscurity while still allowing natural light into your home.
These decorative patterns help enhance both privacy and style, making them a popular choice for bathrooms and front doors.
Each pattern offers a unique appearance and varying levels of privacy depending on your preference.
